Dr. Mary Helen Hayden, Director of the School of Social Work in the College, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida and a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work. She has worked in the area of addictions as a clinician as well as Chief Trainer for the National Institute of Drug Abuse Southeast Regional Training Center. Dr. Hayden has dedicated her career to working with socially and economically at-risk populations and to educating the next generation of social workers. Her research on service-learning in higher education led to the development of a stand-alone interdisciplinary service learning course. She played a central role in the development of the interdisciplinary team approach to underserved South Florida communities, known as Neighborhood HELPTM, with medicine, nursing and social work. Her current research focuses on interdisciplinary teamwork, particularly in the health arena.
