Dr. Mary Shaw has interwoven teaching, research, and service experience to eliminate education and health disparities impacting minority communities. She has designed and implemented several community-based participatory research initiatives addressing minority health issues. “The More Than a Family Picnic: It’s a Family Affair for Lifestyle Change” is Dr. Shaw’s cancer prevention program focused on women and their families. She is a trustee for Membership and Leadership for the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) and previously served as the Associate Editor of SOPHE’s Health Promotion Practice Journal, Ethics in Health Education Department. Dr. Shaw’s research, teaching, and service interests are trans-disciplinary, interwoven and focused on health disparities, women’s health, ethics, cancer prevention education, and faith-based health promotion.
