This special blend of disciplines and programs afford us the opportunity to better explore and understand the interrelatedness of social, biological, environmental and cultural determinants of health and well-being.

Admissions to Graduate Programs

To be admitted as a graduate student in PUBLIC HEALTH you must apply to SOPHAS and complete the FIU SUPPLEMENTAL APPLICATION. The details are provided below.

All other applicants to graduate programs in DIETETICS and NUTRITION and SOCIAL WORK should follow the application process through the University Graduate School. Your completion and submission of the FIU graduate admissions application will be your electronic signature, which is legally recognized by Florida Statutes.

For Graduate application priority deadlines click here. The Public Health priority deadline for domestic applicants in Master is March 1.

Applications submitted after the final deadlines might not be processed in time for admission into desired semester. International applications take longer to process and should be submitted as early as possible. Applications to Public Health Programs

Please follow the steps below to ensure that your application is complete. Only completed applications with supporting documentation will be considered for admissions.

Application for the Public Health Degree

STEP 1 - Application should be submitted through SOPHAS

  1. Complete an online application via SOPHAS (Choose “APPLY NOW”) and pay the appropriate fee to SOPHAS 
  2. Complete the required FIU supplemental application and pay the $30 fee
  3. ALL official transcripts should be submitted to SOPHAS for verification
  4. Upload all required supplemental items including three 3 letters of recommendation, CV, and Personal Statement to SOPHAS

STEP 2 –

  1. Following a review of all completed applications admission decisions will be conveyed to applicants from the University’s Graduate Admissions Office.
  2. Should an applicant need to send foreign transcripts directly to FIU, applicants must first apply through SOPHAS and complete the FIU supplemental before sending any transcripts to FIU.  (Applies to EVALUATIONS OBTAINED FROM any other TRANSLATION AND SERVICES other than WORLD EDUCATION SERVICES (WES ICAP)).

Writing sample required for Ph.D. (master's thesis, published manuscript or other)
