Area of Focus: Alnecia has collaborated on research studies of women’s health issues such as contraception, cervical cancer screening, and genetic testing for breast and ovarian cancers. Her experience includes electronic medical record data collection, study design, recruitment and retention, and custom development of software that streamlines research processes. She is currently working on her dissertation which addresses the impact of increasingly prevalent nuclear family alternatives (e.g., extended family co-residence: nuclear family plus other relatives or close friends) on adolescent sexual risk behavior in the U.S. Alnecia is also a research scientist in the pharmaceutical industry involved in projects that aim to improve cancer patient outcomes.
