Research Interests: Over the past eight years, Vicky Vazquez has dedicated her research contributions on examining the social determinants that influence gender-based health disparities. As a Health Disparities Research Fellow for the FIU-Health Disparities Initiative (FIU-HDI) within the Center for Research on US Latino HIV/AIDS and Drug Abuse (CRUSADA) Vicky’s work focuses on identifying and addressing the structural and psychosocial conditions that predispose Latinx immigrants to substance misuse (e.g. alcohol misuse) and mental suffering (e.g cross-cultural stressors, trauma, and depressive symptoms).
