Galed Hakim, M.D., is Assistant Vice-President of International Healthcare Partnerships at Baptist Health International. His role is to foster international healthcare alliances with medical associations and physicians around the globe, educate and assist international physicians, hospitals and patients in accessing Baptist Health South Florida. In addition to managing and instruct interdisciplinary teams in preventive global health and policy strategies, improving hospital quality and risk stratification and prevention. improvement topics, Dr. Hakim oversees the crucial daily operations of the international coordination of care department, physician relations, patient navigation, case management and insurance development for the department in order to execute and implement strategies to meet strategic planning objectives.

Dr. Hakim has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry, serving as director for organizations such as United Healthcare and Tenet Healthcare. Previously he served as a missionary doctor in the Dominican Republic assisting in developing healthcare clinics for underserved communities. After his return to the U.S., he completed his MBA and finished his doctorate degree in health sciences at Nova Southeastern University, with an emphasis in global health.

Dr. Hakim has developed key strategies to reduce readmissions and maximize the quality of care of patients during hospitalization, and post-discharge. As a keynote speaker at dozens of national and international conferences, he has addressed quality concerns related to readmissions, healthcare quality, performance improvement strategies and hospital utilization as well as global disease prevention and wellness topics. Dr. Hakim is Co-Chair of the patient safety and quality committee for the American Association of Interdisciplinary Doctors of Health Science and faculty at Florida International University Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work, where he teaches Hospital Quality Management, Risk Prevention,  Health care Leadership, Strategic Planning in Healthcare Organizations and  Global Health Policy and Management Dr, Hakim has co-authored several articles on hospital quality and safety and risk prevention.
