Biography
In 1990, Dr. Vijaya Narayanan received her undergraduate degree in Dietetics and Nutrition from Women’s Christian College at the University of Madras, India. She received her M.S. degree in Nutritional Sciences from Rutgers University in 1995 and completed her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at SUNY, Stony Brook in 2002. Dr. Narayanan was an NIH postdoctoral trainee at the Department of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology at the University of Miami until June 2005. She joined the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition at Florida International University as an assistant professor in 2008.
In recent years, Dr. Narayanan has contributed as a subject matter expert to the development of diverse digital learning resources for Cengage and Pearson Publishing. Currently, she is the program director for the MS program and the undergraduate nutrition science major. In addition, she serves as a mentor for the graduate teaching assistants and oversees the adjunct faculty in the department.
