A New Generation of Dietetics Leaders
FIU's Dietetics Leadership Program (DIETLEAD) is a structured, one-year leadership initiative for undergraduate and graduate dietetics students. The program develops leadership identity, project execution skills, delegation and succession planning. Participants complete competency-based activities which culminate in the FIU Dietetics Leadership Summit.

Completion Requirements
As part of the program, students are expected to engage with the curriculum and leadership competencies available. This includes:
- Participate in one Leadership 101 Workshop
- Fall Semester: October 16
- Spring Semester: January 22
- Participate in two additional workshops delivered by the Center for Leadership and Service. This will count as an activity within a competency.
- Complete at least two activities in each of the eight leadership competencies (refer to the Certified Student Leader Activities Worksheet)
- Submit mid-year and final reflections
- Participate in the capstone Leadership Summit at the end of the Spring semester
- Earn a Micro-credential and Medallion

Reflection Requirements
Mid-Year Reflection (300–500 words): Emerging leadership identity and growth areas.
Final Reflection (500–750 words): Development of others, execution experience, and future leadership goals.
Both reflections will be posted in a folder via Microsoft Teams.

Capstone Leadership Summit
There will be a yearly summit within Dietetics and Nutrition to showcase the students’ efforts and achievements throughout the year.
How to Enroll
Students must fill out an enrollment application. The program will last two semesters and can continue if the student enrolls in advanced degree program with our department. The student should meet with Program Leader to review completion requirements, including substitutions in CSL activities and participation in Summit.
