Subject area description
This lab is used to conduct the DXA scan using our Hologic dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry machine (Hologic, In., Bedford, MA, USA). With this scan we measure bone mineral content and density, visceral adiposity (abdominal and truncal fat), lean body mass, body fat mass, and % body fat following the standard procedures from the Florida Department of Health and FIU procedures for radiation safety.
